ENRICH European Training Network
Enriched communication across the lifespan
Please register for this event via the registration form by 1 November at the latest
This residential event will include the formal launch of the ENRICH network (introduction of all partners and first Board Meeting) as well as the final recruitment stage for candidates for the 14 Early Stage Researcher (ESR) positions within the ENRICH network who have been shortlisted following the initial skype interviewing stage.
The event will start on Sunday 13 November with welcome drinks followed by a group dinner. Attendees can arrive at any time after 3 pm on that day. The event will conclude on Wednesday morning after breakfast. The main activities for this event will take place on Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 November.
This ENRICH event will take place at the Gilwell Park Conference Centre near Chingford in Essex which is set within 108 acres of parkland on the edge of Epping forest. The conference centre is built around an historic house which is the headquarters of the Scouting Association. There are bedrooms on site as well as meeting rooms, a dining room, coffee bar, sports hall and plenty of space to relax.
Most of the bedrooms are twins or doubles with ensuite bathrooms; we may need to use a small number of bedrooms with shared bathrooms in an adjacent building. Each attendee will have their own room. Bedrooms in the main house are equipped with internet access, colour television, power showers, tea, coffee and biscuits.
All meals will be taken on site. Continental and full English breakfast will be served every morning; lunch and dinner will be buffet style in the cafeteria. Refreshments will be served during the day.
Gilwell Park is located just outside Chingford, a small town in Essex, North East of Central London. We suggest using google maps or rome2rio.com to work out your best route from your starting location.
For the most direct route to Gilwell Park from Central London, use the Overground train from Liverpool Street station which takes around 30 minutes to reach Chingford station (see full timetable) and then a taxi for the final 1.5 miles (taxi rank and minicab office at the station). The Overground train also stops at Walthamstow Central station (Victoria Line) en route to Chingford so it is possible to transfer from the Underground network there if more convenient. Note that there is a reduced frequency of trains on Sunday.
If several people are travelling together from Stansted airport, which is 25 miles away from Gilwell Park, it might be worth booking a minicab in advance for a direct transfer; the journey should only take 30 mins or so. The cost is likely to be in the region of £50 and pre-booking is recommended as it is more cost-effective than hailing a taxi on arrival (see for example https://www.airportbee.com).
Information about arrival time will be collected as part of the registration process. We will endeavour to organise group transfer to Gilwell Park if a group of people are arriving at Stansted airport or St Pancras Station (Eurostar) around the same time. You will be contacted with further information if this is the case.
